You Are a Diamond in the Rough

For the most part, I think you would you agree that nobody in the Universe is just like you. That you are, indeed, 100% unique and one of a kind.

What a crazy thing to think about, isn’t it?

That there is no one else on the planet like you!

Something to be proud of, isn’t it?

If that’s true then why is it that you have a hard time embracing who you are … without making excuses?

Why do you absolve yourself of the responsibility of claiming who you are, imperfections and all, and shout it from the roof tops?!

Why have you given up your right be … well, you?!

I’m sure you didn’t plan to become, act,  or do what others expected of you instead of what you wanted and expected for yourself.

I’m sure you didn’t intend to feel inferior, not good enough, not lovable, not worthy.  I’m sure you didn’t expect to allow fear, guilt, shame and regret run your life.

But this is exactly what you’ve done, isn’t it?

Perhaps it’s time to course correct and do things differently!

Perhaps it’s time to reclaim your power and be who you really are, not what others want you to be.

Uh, but wait … do you even know who you really are?  Hmmm ,…

Perhaps you don’t but being who you really aren’t isn’t exactly working is it?

In fact, being a imposter is exhausting! It sucks! It takes up a lot more energy trying to be someone you’re not than to relax into who you are and enjoy the ride!

The fact is, being you doesn’t have to be so scary.  And, figuring out who you are doesn’t have to be so difficult.

You have the ability to look deep within and find the divine place in you. To connect to your Higher Self. The part of  you that only knows peace, joy, and happiness.

The Universe invites you to do this all the time. However, your natural instinct is to put the invitation in the spam folder or write return to sender on the envelop.  There’s a tendency to reject the invitation in hopes that it’ll go away.

Guess what, it doesn’t!  Instead, the invitation sits there waiting to be opened and looking for you to RSVP.  And, while you’re ignoring it, the same ol’ patterns, life’s lessons and challenges rear their ugly head … they re-deliver the invitation in hopes that you’ll eventually open it.

Sometimes I find that I am stuck, full of fear, stressed, depressed or something is just off balance. When this happens, I use the stop-look-listen approach. I stop letting external circumstances dictate my level of happiness. I look within to reconnect with my higher self. Then I listen to the wisdom that I’m being told.

That wisdom is uually a reminder that I’m 100% me, a perfectly imperfect me. That I am a diamond in the rough and that in the midst of that imperfection, I am also love, peace, harmony, joy, and compassion. I am simply me … and I am enough!

You, too, are perfectly imperfect.

You, too, are a diamond in the rough.

You, too, are love, peace, harmony, joy, compassion …

And you, my friend, are enough!

Embrace the fact that you’re unique and that there isn’t anyone else in the world out there like you.

Perhaps it’s time to R.S.V.P.?
