In this episode, Dr. Jennifer Fraser talks about her research about bullying and how shocked she was at how frequently teachers are bullying the students. She describes the long term effects bullying has on the brain and how it causes abnormalities that can be seen in an MRI. She goes on to say that a ‘one-off yelling’ at a child isn’t abusive and won’t cause long term damage. However, this isn’t the case with chronic exposure to yelling, ignoring, name calling, negligence and put downs, just to mention a few.
The good news is that the brain is fluid and can be repaired and damage can be reversed. Studies have shown that significant improvement can be made in just 21 days with the right tools and techniques. “We can rehabilitate the brain just like we can repair a knee or broken bone.”
Jennifer Fraser is passionate about changing the system when it comes to bullying where hush money should no longer be the solution. To change the system we need to get to the root cause and that lies with the perpetrator.
How to Make a Big Shift in Your Life
Unjust systems, status quo is all about a war of attrition. They will use their power and control of timing to wear you down. It is vital to have a great deal of resistance to push back every time they try to ignore your concerns, drag out the timeline, treat you as if you are hysterical, act as if you are unworthy, intimidate you and threaten you. You must stay the course.
