Spiritual Healing: The First Level of Healing

spiritual healing and meditating

A couple of days ago, I talked about the four (4) levels of healing – spiritual, emotional, physical and mental. To grow and develop a deeper level of consciousness, it is important to work on all levels of healing.

Today, I’m going to talk specifically about the spiritual aspect of healing.  The spiritual part of our selves is really about your inner essence of being – your soul. It is the part of you that exists beyond the physical form and goes way beyond time and space.  It is the part of you that is connected to the Universe or, as some would call it, the oneness of life.

Of the four levels, I talk about the spiritual level of healing first because it really sets the stage, and is the platform for all other levels. It is the core of your being, the core of who you are. Unfortunately, most of us have left this part of ourselves behind as we strive to live our lives on the physical plane.

As with most of us, you may be wandering around life feeling empty, numb and detached from the true essence of your being and from the universal spirit that exists in all of you.  As a result, you may desperately seek to fill the void in materialistic, ego-satisfying ways.

For the most part, we are all lost souls and it is our job here on earth to find ourselves again. To reconnect to our spiritual selves – the core of our being. In order to do this, we need to heal ourselves at the deepest levels.

A Willingness to Do the Work

It is irresponsible of to think that you can find meaning in our life if you’re unwilling to do your own healing work. Healing at the spiritual level lays the foundation for healing all aspects of yourself. It is through this healing process you can reconnect to how amazing and divine you truly are.

When you re-connect with your true essence, you will being to feel a greater sense of security, compassion, truth and fulfillment.  You will learn to trust that a life of deeper meaning and purpose comes from connecting to your spirit within and can’t be found outside of yourself.

In this place of truth comes the knowingness that you are a co-creator of your life. You’re able to look at life from the window of your soul which allows you to see the bigger picture. You become better able to shake off the daily struggles and frustrations that tend to weigh you down and keep you from feeling radically alive!

Once you make the spiritual connection, you can more easily move into the other levels of healing with greater confidence, inspiration and understanding.

The Spiritual Healing Journey

For some, it is a very cathartic experience. It happens as a result of hitting your personal “rock bottom”, a near death experience, the death or birth of a loved one or … even through sheer desperation. However, for some, it’s not as instantaneous as this.  Rather, it happens by taking deliberate, intentional steps to nurture your soul.

What will nurture your soul?

For each of us, this is different. The key is to be as “in the moment” as possible and notice when you feel the energetic flow of life. Give yourself permission to slow down, breathe, a simply be … even if it’s just for a few short moments.

Too often we feel like we constantly have to “do” something. Especially in the western culture, we like to stay busy. Even when we have “down time” we usually fill it up with distractions such as radio, iPad, gaming, social media – we have so much difficulty shutting out distractions and just being.

It’s that urge to do something that blocks our ability to connect to our spiritual selves. Ironically, we see doing nothing as a bad thing when doing nothing is really doing something awesome for yourself. (Okay, that may have gotten a little confusing!)

By allowing yourself to simply “be” you give yourself and opportunity to tune in, recharge, regroup and reconnect with yourself. And, when you make this a regular habit, your life can change by leaps and bounds.

Finding Your Own Spiritual Practice

As I mentioned, this is going to be different for everyone but here are some ideas to get your juices flowing.

  1. Meditation
  2. Religious or spiritual practice/rituals
  3. Connecting with nature
  4. Movement (dance, Thai chi, exercise)
  5. Breathing (breath work)
  6. Journaling
  7. Sculpting
  8. Painting
  9. Scrapbooking

Bottom line is that being “spiritual” doesn’t mean you hang out in a church. To, me, that is religious not spiritual and I have met a lot of people in my day that are religious and not very spiritual at all.  Being spiritual is an energetic way of being. It is being “at one with the moment” and being fully present and connected to ourselves … not matter what we enjoy doing at the time.

The key to connecting spiritually is to let go, let God and don’t make it so difficult! We tend to look at is as this big, grandiose thing when, if you really think about it, it’s really quite simple!

Will you give yourself permission to accept that you are an amazingly unique, divine individual and that you deserve to heal and be happy?

What will you do today to reconnect to your spiritual self?

Stay tuned, because in a few days I’ll guide you through strategies you can use to heal on the other three levels – mental, emotional and physical.

Until then …

Joyously Yours,

Dana
